2021 Celani Family Estate Grown Napa Valley Chardonnay
Winemaker Notes: Celani Family Vineyard Chardonnay is made from estate grown grapes in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. The Chardonnay was whole-cluster pressed and fermented on its lees using 40% new French oak barrels with the remainder in self-stirring egg-shaped concrete fermenters. In order to retain the Chardonnay’s natural acidity, malolactic fermentation was inhibited. The result is a wine with a dazzling aromatic landscape—embracing vibrancy and complexity—revealing crisp apple, Bosc pear, tropical flowers, Kiwi fruit, and brioche. As the wine opens, secondary aromas of night jasmine, dry straw, lemongrass, and guava add further dimension. The palate is deliciously complex and crisp with a weight and viscosity that is nicely balanced by the intense fruit and floral flavors. This delicious wine has a lasting finish with persisting notes of sexy oak and roasted nuts. -- Mark Herold
