2022 Kongsgaard Chardonnay Napa Valley
Winemaker Notes: Fifth-generation Napa natives John and Maggy began their endeavor in the 1970s planting The Judge vineyard on the Kongsgaard family land near Napa. Antonio Galloni writes for Wine Advocate: "The overall quality level here is absolutely remarkable. It is rare to see someone who is so brilliant with so many grape varieties, but Kongsgaard seems to have the magic touch. The Chardonnays remain among the most exquisite in California.
Our historic blend of the Hudson and Hyde vineyards shows the classic tangerine oil and crème brûlée richness of aroma over intense marzipan and nectarine flavors. The palate is broad, but still well mannered. The finish is long and positively saline–dare we say “minerality?” Back when Robert Parker was visiting, he called this the Bâtard-Montrachet of Napa.
