2015 Domaine de L'A Castillon Cotes de Bordeaux

Winemaker Notes:  Côtes de Bordeaux is an appellation you may not be so familiar with, but you should be. Domaine de L'A is helping to promote this lesser-known region by creating wines that identify this place and soil. The hilly area on the Right Bank is comprised of five different regions, Castillon neighbors the more famous region of Saint-Émilion and shares many of the same prominent grape varieties and nuances of terroir. This bottling is predominantly Merlot blended with Cabernet Franc.

Wine Spectator - "A focused, racy beam of cassis and plum fruit is flanked by lightly singed apple wood and tobacco hints. A flash of chalky minerality through the finish adds length. Reveals a backdrop of warm toast that remains integrated throughout. Well-built. Best from 2020 through 2027."


James Suckling - "Stand back for this bold wine with ripe black fruits, lavender and chocolate on the nose and big yet somehow elegant tannin structure that makes the finish graceful and should carry it for many years ahead."

Super-ripe black cherry, plum, licorice, mocha, espresso and tobacco infuse this sumptuous, racy wine. The 2015 is a stellar wine from Stéphane and Christiane Derenoncourt. Domaine de l'A is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, of which 20% has whole clusters."
