2016 Domaine J. Denuzière Condrieu Northern Rhone
Vinification: Condrieu is the most northern appellation in the Rhone Valley producing white wines, the entire appellation covers 110 hectares of vineyards only. When viognier almost disappeared in the 1950’s, a passionate few winemakers kept the appellation alive long enough to see its renaissance in the 1980’s. Today, the AOC covers 110 hectares and has become a global benchmark for Viognier.
This J.Denuzière Condrieu comes from a tiny one hectare plot called 'Le Tinal', it is a very steep terraced vineyard and it is farmed sustainably.
Harvested by hand using small baskets, pressed and cold macerated over twenty four hours, 30% of the must is then transferred into barrels and the rest in stainless steel tanks for fermentation. The wine is matured on lees from ten to twelve months with regular bâtonnage.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM

Wine Enthusiast - "Creamy swirls of vanilla-orange ice cream and honeydew melon dominate this unctuous but pertly balanced Viognier. It's silky and richly concentrated but maintains an elegant, sunny appeal. The finish is long and tangerine scented."
