2018 Domaine Gruhier 'Tonnerre' Blanc Burgundy
- Terroir: South/southeast/east-facing, up to 45% slope, Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soil
- Viticulture: Organic (certified as of 2015)
- Vinification: Gentle pressing, indigenous yeast fermentation. Aged for 10 months in older oak barrels (10%) and stainless steel (90%).
Average production is about 1,500 cases per year, though unfortunately this parcel was wiped out in 2016.
Staff Selection: Beautifully crafted Bourgogne from the Chablis area . . . with its unique soils of Kimmeridgian clay and limestone. Certified Organic, 10% of the wine is aged in older oak barrels for 10 Months [stainless steel for the rest]. The result is a wonderful creaminess with a lovely citrus and mineral base. The 2018 is spectacular!
