2019 Domaine du Pavillon (Albert Bichot) Clos des Mouches 1er Cru Blanc Beaune
Winemaker Notes: The notes of white flowers, honey and beeswax are telling signs of a high-caliber wine. The palate is racy and chiseled with incomparable length. Honor this wine by savoring it alone to appreciate its full range of aromas and flavors. You may also enjoy it with fish or white meats cooked in cream.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Wine Enthusiast - "Better known for its red wines, this premier cru vineyard also has a plot of Chardonnay. Ripe with yellow fruits and toastiness, this wine has a full-bodied character, juggling crisp acidity with generous fruitiness and texture."
Wine Spectator - "An opulent style, this delivers tangy apple, butterscotch and toasted spice flavors backed by a spine of acidity. It's harmonious, with the butterscotch element lingering."
Decanter - "From a 0.75ha plot at the top of the slope, in the Clos des Mouches, where Bichot owns some vines that give a wine of winning concentration. There is pleasantly ripe apricot and pear fruit, with a broad feel on the palate. Regal in stature, perhaps lacking a bit of acidity, although many will enjoy its rich character."
Burghound - "A vague whiff of the exotic suffuses the ripe aromas of melon, pear and apple-scented nose. There is fine volume to the succulent and caressing medium-bodied flavors that conclude in a bitter lemon-inflected finale. This will definitely need at least a few years of keeping to round out the finish. Range: 89-92"
