2015 Krayer Winkeler Hasensprung Riesling Beerenauslese Rheingau 375mL

Winemaker Notes:  This very sweet hand-picked Beerenauslese has an extreme fullbody and a heavy grapy taste. Deeply coloured, with an incredibly rich, sweet nose of toasty caramel, honey, lime and some spiciness. A very complex wine. The palate is syrupy sweet with a spicy edge and hugely rich texture. A wine you will not forget.

With our winery in the heart of the Rheingau, we can look back on a long winegrowing tradition. With son Hagen, who began studying viticulture and enology after his apprenticeship as a winemaker, viticulture in the Krayer family is already in the 5th generation at the current location, the Krayers Mühle on the Elsterbach. The history of the family, which influenced the fortunes of most of the Winkeler mills on the Elsterbach and also grew wine below Johannisberg Castle for centuries, can be traced back to the 17th century.

Around 11 hectares are cultivated, which extend from Mittelheim via Winkel and Johannisberg to Geisenheim. In accordance with these preferred locations, we concentrate on growing the grape varieties Riesling and Pinot Noir, which were preferred by our ancestors and which make up around 95% of our vineyard area. Since we combine tradition and experience with innovation and modernity, careful treatment of the vines is particularly important to us. High-quality wines can only be produced from healthy vines and grapes. Quality-enhancing measures, such as low cutting, are important for optimal grape quality.
