2018 Cantina di Montalcino Brunello di Montalpulciano
Winemaker Notes: Montalcino, an ancient and fascinating Sienese village of Etruscan origin, is located on top of a hill about 600 meters above sea level among holm oak woods. Its verdant territory, bordered by Mount Amiata and the Orcia, Asso, and Ombrone valleys, is almost circular in shape so as to ideally identify four slopes, with different pedoclimatic characteristics (terrain, orientation, microclimate).
Vineyards occupy only a small part of the territory, particularly suited to the cultivation of Sangiovese, an ancient vine from which we produce the famous Brunello.Vineyards of our growers are located in all of the four quadrants which the territory of Montalcino is divided into, and this is a guarantee of excellent quality even in periods when the climatic conditions have not been favorable.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
James Suckling - "I like the dried rose, tar and earthy bark notes here, with some orange peel and bitter cocoa. Flavorful and rich yet elegant and approachable at the same time, with powdery tannins. Medium to full body. Roasted spice at the end."
