2016 Comtesse de Cherisey 'Hameau de Blagny' 1er Cru Blanc Puligny-Montrachet
Winemaker Notes: Perched high up in the hamlet of Blagny, this premier cru which straddles the appellations of Meursault and Puligny may become known as one of the top terroirs for white wines thanks to global warming. The 2016 is a case in point. The altitude and the east facing slopes serve to offset the effects of drought and heat. This is a lovely Puligny with great structure and freshness offsetting the beauty of the Chardonnay fruit. On the finish there is a vibrant, fruit and mineral taste that leads to an elegant finale.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - "The 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Hameau de Blagny felt much more primal on the nose compared to Laurent Chérisey’s other 2016s. The palate is fresh on the entry with a fine bead of acidity, tightly wound and just clamming up toward the finish, whereas the La Garennes appears to have more flow, more vitality. Let’s see how this shows in bottle."
