2020 Montesecondo 'Il Rospo' Cabernet Sauvignon Tuscany
Winemaker Notes: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from 25 year old vines planted to clay and galestro soils. For years there was Petit Verdot in this wine and we always made a big joke of it. But Silvio ripped it out years ago and told me to stop spreading this lie. So, sorry to say but this wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Destemmed, four days of maceration. Fermented and aged in concrete vats. It receives 20mg per liter of sulfur just before bottling. Biodynamic.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - "Montesecondo has a cute little toad with a golden crown as its logo on the front label, and the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Il Rospo is one of the more original wines from this estate. The wine is true to the grape and is void of any unnecessary bells or whistles. Indeed, it shows a very honest presentation with raw flavors of blackberry and dark plum. Sweet rose, grilled herb and potting soil also appear. This vintage produces plenty of cherry sweetness on the close. This is a new submission from this estate, with 5,800 bottles produced."
