2022 Benito Ferrara 'Vigna Cicogna' Greco di Tufo Santa Paolina
Winemaker Notes: Ashen mineral tones and stone fruit are backed by thick notes of milky honey and cream. This vineyard-designate Greco di Tufo is very crisp and tonic with lingering citrus flavors. Fragrances recall white flowers, stone fruit, Barlett pear, flint and lemon pie. The rich palate delivers layers of white and yellow peach, mineral, ginger, white pepper and pink grapefruit. The creamy texture is brightened by crisp acidity.
Madeline Triffon, M.S. Selection: "I simply adore this wine. It’s everything and more that you would want from an un-oaked, single vineyard, European white: concentrated old vine fruit, creamy-dry, aromatic (peachy), with terrific persistence and a stony, salty quality that sings terroir. And, it’s absurdly affordable, to the point that you would miss it’s true value! It’s undeniable beauty will creep up as you sip. Gabriela Ferrara inherited her father’s property in arid, remote Campania and runs it with her husband and children."
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
James Suckling - "Perhaps the benchmark greco. Salty. Quinine-bitter. Tangerine tangy and refined. A fleck of cool fermentation notes, banana peel and papaya, detract. Yet the track record here is such that I have nothing but faith that the rivets will be welded by time. Long and chiselled. Drink or hold."
