2020 Michel Niellon Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge Cote de Beaune
Winemaker Notes: Vibrant red to the rim with a nose of gorgeous cooked red and black fruits, a light hint of rhubarb, really youthful and juicy, primary with some distant grilled notes. Much more intense on the palate than the nose implies, mineral and tight with supple tannins and bright acidity, floral and herbal and going to a long, spiced finish with bags of fruit and a zip of tannin and acidity behind. Mouth-watering. Drink 2023 - 2028
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Burghound - "Discreet but perceptible nuances of wood and menthol are present on the ripe and fresh red and dark raspberry, pepper and newly turned earth. The is fine mid-palate density to the utterly delicious middle weight flavors that possess much better than average depth and persistence for such a young Chassagne red. One to strongly consider as this is very good."
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - "Aromas of dark cherries, spices and licorice introduce the 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge, a medium to full-bodied, bright and fleshy wine built around supple tannins and lively acids. It's a fine effort."
