2018 Vasse Felix Cabernet Sauvignon Margaret River
Winemaker Notes: Bright and deep ruby color. A loaded and dense perfume of cassis, licorice and strawberry sorbet is deepened by ocean scents of dried shells and crayfish bisque. Ironstone rock brings earthy notes which give way to dried rose petal and vanilla butter intrigue. The palate is so intense, tight, lengthy and exciting. A fresh and succulent entry pulls inward with firm, linear tannins driving the flavors long. Fresh raspberry, wood spice, vanilla and peanut complexities linger.
Blend: 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
James Suckling - "This impressive cabernet has aromas of dark berries, as well as plums and blue fruit, alongside terra cotta and also fresh purple flowers. The palate has a seamless and flavor-soaked feel with fine tannins carrying black-fruit flavors. Some chocolate to close. Impressive. A blend of 90% cabernet sauvignon, 8% petit verdot and 2% malbec. Drink or hold. Screw cap."
Wine Spectator - "Aromatic and expressive, with eucalyptus oil, sage and cedar wood accents and a dense core of dark cassis, black tea and star anise and dark chocolate notes that mingle on a supple, elegant frame. Drink now through 2037. 9,000 cases made, 250 cases imported."
