2016 Melka 'Mekerra' Proprietary White La Mekerra Vineyard Knights Valley

Winemaker Notes:  Our sixth vintage of mountain fruit Sauvignon blanc to be produced from our vineyard at 2300 foot elevation in Knights Valley. Aromatics leaning towards lemon peel, white plum, nectarine with notes of stony fruits like white peach, and underlying tones of toasted almonds and May flowers. one of the most striking aromatic profiles of this wine to date. The wine shows great tension and energy with pure expression and amazing structure. The finish - also one of the most striking to date - lasting up to a long, lingering minute or more.

Vinous - "The 2016 Proprietary White Mekerra, 100% Sauvignon Blanc from Knights Valley, is classy, polished and nuanced. Lemon peel, mint, almond and floral notes are nicely delineated. In 2016, the fruit was picked a bit earlier than normal, and that comes through in the wine's energetic feel, but there is certainly plenty of textural depth and resonance as well."
