2019 Vincent Girardin 'Les Combettes 1er Cru' Puligny-Montrachet
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - "The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes is terrific, bursting from the glass with aromas of pear, orange oil, white flowers, crisp green apple, hazelnuts and freshly baked bread. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, it's ample and layered, with a taut, elegantly muscular profile and a long, penetrating finish. It's farmed by Germain's team, and that shows. Best after 2025. Rating: 94+"
Vinous - "The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru comes from 0.80 hectares of vines up to 45 years old, located close to the woods. Unlike the other two Puligny Premier Crus, it comes from Girardin’s own vines. This has a more clinical bouquet of fine delineation and terroir expression, featuring crushed limestone, cooking apple and a light sea spray note. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity and quite saline in the mouth, getting the saliva flowing. Good concentration on the finish. This is an excellent Puligny that should age with style. (92-94pts)"
Burghound - "Ripe and fresh aromas of pear compote, acacia blossom and citrus zest give way to delicious and more vibrant medium weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the caressing but punchy finish. The mid-palate texture is gorgeous and is satisfying in and of itself though to achieve the upper end of my projected range, this will need to add depth. (90-93pts)"
