2020 Grifalco 'Gricos' Aglianico del Vulture Basilicata
Organic
Winemaker Notes: Ruby red in color with an edge of purple. Earthy aromas of black cherry and plack pepper on the nose. Elegant and floral on the palate with the graphite minerality characteristic of wines from Vulture.
After twenty years of making wine in the heart of Tuscany the Piccin family looked for something new. Their pursuit of an adventure put the long-lived Aglianico grape in their hands, and the family in Basilicata on the Vulture volcano, where the grape thrives. With the griffon representing their hometown of Montepulciano and the falcon representing their present and future on Vulture, they created Grifalco in 2004. Their sixteen organically farmed hectares of vines are deeply rooted in the high altitude soils of the volcano. Each parcel is vinified on its own and only then is it determined which cuvee it is blended into.
